how to order custom artwork

I offer a few different types of artwork:  graphite pencil, colored pencil, ink, and a combination of watercolor pencil and ink.  I have examples of each medium on the

I price my artwork based on the size and medium.  The prices are listed below with the lists of the sizes and mediums.   Pricing starts low with pet sketches and scales up for full artwork. 

Do you need the artwork by a specific date?  

Please allow about 3 weeks for the completion of most colored pencil and graphite pencil artwork 8x10 inches and larger and additional time for shipping.  Artwork larger than 8x10 inches with full backgrounds may take longer to complete depending on the size and complexity of the piece.  Smaller, less detailed sketches should only take a few days at most to complete. 

Please keep in mind I often have a commission art queue when ordering and may not be able to get to your portrait right away.

You can send your photos via email, text, or through social media messaging.   Reference photos are very important for realistic artwork. Very simply put, better photos = better art. 

Reference photo checklist:

Is the photo clear?  I cannot work from blurry photos. Photos taken with a camera/phone of photos on computer screens are blurry and do not make good reference photos.

Is the photo small?  Size matters. High resolution (large photos) are best.  I enlarge photos to see the details better.  If it's too small, the photo is pixelated and the details are lost.

Can you see details like the eyes?  The eyes are really important in a portrait.  The eye shape and color should be clearly visible. 

Are the colors in your photo accurate?  I need to be able to see accurate colors in order to draw or paint them.  

How is the lighting in the photo?  Natural light is best when taking a photo for something like this.  Again, I cannot draw or paint details that I cannot see.

I require a 25% non-refundable deposit prior to starting most commissioned artwork.  This is 25% of the total cost of the finished artwork not including shipping.  Deposits are non-refundable except in the unfortunate event where I would be unable to finish your artwork, whereby I will refund your deposit in full.  The deposit guarantees your place in my work list and covers the cost of the materials.  I don't start work on your portrait until the deposit is paid.

I will need to know your preferred choice of contact such as email, text or social media messaging so I can share progress photos of your artwork with you throughout the creative process and contact you if I have any questions.

I will need this to calculate the shipping cost and so I can ship the artwork.

I typically ship USPS mail.  All artwork will be shipped within 3-5 business days after your approval and the final payment clears. The shipping prices and insurance are not included in my prices and may vary depending on the size of the artwork and the shipping location.  If you need alternative shipping, please let me know.  

Payment types accepted:  PayPal (goods & services) and postal money orders.

Once the artwork is finished, and you approve the artwork, the balance must be paid in full before the artwork is shipped.
