Commissioning Artwork

1. Contact me.  You can email, text, call, or contact me through social media. 
2. Artwork size.  I will need to know what size you want.  The sizes and prices that I offer are listed on the separate pages in the portfolio section. 
3. Artwork medium.  Do you want your artwork created with graphite pencils, artist grade colored pencils, or acrylic paint?  I have examples of each in the portfolio section.
4. When do you need the artwork by?
5. Are there specific details that you want in the artwork?
6. Send your reference photos to me.  You can send them via email, text or through social media.
7. Pay the deposit.  I don't start on artwork until the deposit is paid.  My prices are listed on the separate pages in the portfolio section.  I charge by size and medium.  
8. Provide your contact information.  I will need to know your preferred choice of contact such as email, text, or social media so I can share progress photos of your artwork with you throughout the creative process and contact you if I have any questions.
9. Shipping location.  I will need this to calculate the shipping cost and so I know where to send the finished artwork.
10. Pay the balance.  Once the artwork is finished, and you approve the artwork, the balance must be paid in full before the artwork is shipped.

Clear communication is essential for commissioned artwork.  Here are a few things you should consider when commissioning artwork from any artist:

• Did you explain what you want in the artwork?
• Did you provide an adequate reference photo?
• Do you need this artwork by a specific time?
• Did you ask about the commission process?
• Do you want progress photos of the artwork?
• Do you have a specific budget for the artwork?
• Did you explain any changes that you want made to the artwork before it was finished?
• Have you read the FAQ page?

Reference photos are very important for realistic artwork. Very simply put, better photos = better art.  

• Is the photo clear?  I cannot work from blurry photos.  
• Is the photo small?  Size matters. High resolution (large photos) are best.  I enlarge photos to see the details better.  If it's too small, the photo is pixelated and the details are lost.
• Can you see details like the eyes?  The eyes are really important in a portrait.  The eye shape and color should be clearly visible. 
• Are the colors in your photo accurate?  I need to be able to see accurate colors in order to draw or paint them.  
• How is the lighting in the photo?  Natural light is best when taking a photo for something like this.  Again, I cannot draw or paint details that I cannot see.
